MetaCanvas™  is a versatile visual web content management application. It is fully web-based and is provided as a hosted application by authorised MetaCanvas™  partners. It comes with an unlimited user license so you can have as many editors and administrators for your site as you like.

Control Panel

The control Panel is the starting point and provides short-cuts to all the features and functions available in MetaCanvas™  as well as statistics about the site contents.

Settings Site Lock-down

Allows you to lock the site for editing and displays whether it is in lock-down mode or not.

Site Variables

This feature allows you to set general site definitions such as meta tags, website name and company name. Page specific meta tags are set when creating or editing a page.

Preferences

MetaCanvas™  comes in a number of languages. In Preferences you can switch language and change skins [the look and feel of MetaCanvas™ ].

Managing Pages

In the Pages tab you create or edit folders, sections and pages of the website.

Titles & Meta Tags

When you create a page you can set the file name [xyz.html], page title as displayed on the website and the meta tags specific to that page.

Hide Page or Folder

This feature allows you to hide pages or whole folders so that they do not show in the website's navigation menu. This feature is also useful for creating draft folders or pages that have not been approved or are in the middle of being created.

Automatically Generated Navigation

MetaCanvas™ can, if required, automatically generate three types of navigation or menu. The top level navigation, a side browser and breadcrumbs. No more manually linking all those pages together.

Real URL's

Even though MetaCanvas™  is powered by a database it can still generate real URL's.

Whereas many database powered content management systems generate complex web page names e.g.:
 www.acmecorp.com/company/module.moduleID?a_id=227

MetaCanvas™ generates real URL's that are easy to remember and that search-engines will be able to index, e.g.:
www.acmecorp.com/company/management/directors.html

Components

MetaCanvas™  has an extremely powerful and flexible feature called Components. Components allow you or your designer to create elements that can be set to be displayed across the entire site or in specific sections only. E.g. banner advertisements, special offers, special pull-downs and more.

Depending on the level of flexibility you require, elements of the design of your site can also be stored as components, giving you the freedom to change the design of your site with unprecedented ease.

MetaCanvas™  Search

All the content you add in your MetaCanvas is fully searchable from within the Control Panel. So if you can't remember where a particular piece of content is you can easily run a search.

Automatic Website Search

As MetaCanvas™  is fully database driven users visiting your site can automatically search for any content. As soon as content is published it is immediately indexed meaning that the site search will always be up to date.

Automatically Generated Site Map

MetaCanvas™  will automatically generate a sitemap for you if desired.

WYSIWYG Editor

MetaCanvas™  has a WYSIWYG content editor which allows you to manage the content of your web pages easily and quickly. In fact if you are familiar with Microsoft Word™ you will feel right at home.

Clipboard

Cut copy and paste or drag and drop directly into your pages from most Microsoft applications such as Word Excel and web browsers. Use the standard editing shortcuts such as "Ctrl+C", "Ctrl+V", and "Ctrl+X".

Save & Preview

Preview the page you are working on by using the right-click menu.

Multi-Language Content & Navigation

MetaCanvas™  allows you to create a website's navigation menu and publish content in a number of languages including such languages as Arabic, Russian, Greek, and many more. All international content is still fully searchable.

Layouts

Layouts are similar in principle to templates in Microsoft Word. You can create standard layouts for different sections of the site hence avoiding the work of applying the same layout to every single page in a section. This drastically reduces the time require for layout and design of the site. It also means that non-designers are able to quickly and easily insert content without having to worry about layout.

Page Priorities

By default sections and pages created in MetaCanvas™  are displayed alphabetically. If preferred you can set the priority of individual sections and pages affecting the order in which they are displayed in the navigation menu.

Manage Images

Add or remove images to the image library and create thumbnails with automatic pop-up enlarged ones.

Wrap Images

Wrap images to text, left aligned or right aligned.

Manage Tables

Create tables and manage their properties [spacing, padding, border, width] visually allowing for advanced designs and data representation not usually possible with other CMS's.

Catalogues

MetaCanvas™  comes with a number of ready-to-go "databases" which can simply be switched on if required. These databases are pre-configured to display content in particular style [set to your specification by the company designing the website], so all you have to do is add the content. Customised databases can also be developed for your MetaCanvas if required.
